The data has been crunched, the paper has been written and the film is almost finished! To celebrate, we are having one last exhibit featuring the results of Price Check concluding with a video presentation finale in which we will reveal our final takeaway.

2011 Update

Just a quick update… Roslyn Esperon is graduating from NYU this spring with a Masters in Arts Administration. Courtney Rile has formed a media company with Michael Barletta called Daylight Blue Media. For more information on Daylight Blue, visit http://www.daylightblue.com.

The Price Check research project and exhibits are now finished and the documentary is currently in production.

Price Check: NYC Closes with Discussion on Tuesday

This is your last chance to see the Price Check exhibit! The third and final showing of the traveling interactive exhibit “Price Check” ends Tuesday, August 3, with a closing reception from 7-11 PM at LaunchPad in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

At 7:30 PM there will be a discussion of our research findings thus far moderated by Brooklyn art maven Kianga Ellis of Avail Art. We will discuss our findings from the first phase of our research on perceived value of art and, at the end of the night, reveal the highest bidders for “Price Check: NYC.”

Price Check opens with a bang!

Thanks everyone who came out to the Price Check Opening this past Saturday! We had a very exciting event, full of friendly faces! In fact, we almost ran out of bid cards on our fist day, now what does that tell you? People are eager to name their price!

A special thanks goes to Kianga Ellis, who saw a tweet by LaunchPad about the opening and came over to check it out. December Update

Well, our two exhibits over the summer in Syracuse and Beacon, NY went very well! We had great attendance in both places and sold four pieces, giving us a good sampling of data for both perceived and actual value.

Over the fall, Roslyn followed up on the research grant from NYU and finally got IRB approval to perform the research after pursuing the process since the spring. That means we finally got the green- both the money and the go ahead to start the interview portion of the project.

Meanwhile, Courtney applied to and was selected for Funds from New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, a State Agency and the Cultural Resources Council, a Regional Arts Council, to produce a documentary about the Price Check project.

Things are moving along, but we are still looking for a space to host the Price Check: New York exhibit. Do you know of anyone who might be able to help? Please let us know.

We plan to begin our interview process in February of 2010. We’ll keep you posted!

Thanks Beacon!

A big thanks to everyone who came out last weekend for our Beacon closing reception! Courtney and I hope you enjoyed our super tasty Mr. Funkys and delightfully crumbly carrot cake. After the reception, we opened the bid boxes and (surprise!) discovered that four of our pieces have found new homes. So congratulations to our new art owners! And to our artists - Fred, Anne and Michael, it looks like we’ll be needing more pieces from you!

Thank you all for the positive responses and supportive comments throughout the show. Courtney and I have really enjoyed our time at Floor One Gallery and to our lovely hosts Ty and Derek, you guys are great! Thanks for letting us share your living room! It was so much fun to be able to sleep in the gallery space and we’re really excited at the possibility of teaming up with you again!

But for now… next up is NYC! We’ll keep you posted!
